Do the instruments require annual service?
No. Sensors do not need regular calibration. But argus offers check-up - service for ISO9000 reasons etc.
Do I need training to operate the PiCUS?
Yes. Training on the instruments is highly recommended. The recommended training takes 1 or 2 days.
What are the recommended configurations for my PiCUS system?
Because of the electronic hammer the number of sonic sensors is not that important any more. The combination of the sonic tomogram and the electric impedance tomogram does give more information about most of the trees than just many measuring points. It is useful to consider to acquire a “smaller” PiCUS AND the Treetronic rather than a “large” PiCUS (12 to 16 sensors).
Minimal setup:
PiCUS Sonic Tomograph – 6 to 8 sensors
PiCUS Standard software
Mechanic calliper (Haglöf etc)
Standard setup:
PiCUS Sonic Tomograph – 8 to 10 sensors
PiCUS Electronic Calliper
PiCUS 3D Expert software
Scientific / Expert Setup:
PiCUS Sonic Tomograph – 8 to 12 sensors
PiCUS Electronic Calliper
PiCUS Expert software
Treetronic - Electric Impedance Tomograph
