Control unit for bread cutting machines

The argus electronic gmbh developed the control unit and build the electrical system for a new designed series of bread cutting machines. The development process included the complete range from defining the technical specification, building and testing of prototypes and in the end producing the control unit with industrial standard quality.
The now complete control unit was testified by the german BG and is safety-certified.

The technical specifications of the above displayed control unit are as follows:

 

  • machine control with free programmable microcontroller
  • motor for cutting knife: 0..750, connected in star topology
  • bread feeding with multiphase stepping motor (80W power)
  • possibility for 4 security sensors, like position switches, for realizing a security area inside the machine
  • 8 inputs for various sensors (like light barriers, magnetic sensors,...) for multi purpose use
  • alphanumerical terminal for machine operation, configurable with 1 to 6 buttons
  • universal to use through changing of microcontroller firmware
  • line voltage: 3phase, 400Vac
  • power consumption: 120W control unit incl. bread feeding system, additional power for 3phase-motor
  • mech. size control unit:  220mm x 280m x 50mm

 

The flexibility of the control unit allows the development of many different types of bread cutting machines. As an example:
In the last 2 years where for instance the following machine types delivered:

 

  • circular blade bread slicers as floor-mounted appliance
  • sickle knife bread slicers as floor-mounted appliance. This included a rise in motor speed and changes in machine timing.
  • short versions of circular blade and sickle knife type machines. This application needed an enhanced sensor system with additional light barrier sensors for detection of bread length.
  • special adjusted table-mounted versions
  • self-service machines with decreased function volume, but with an additional level of  security for the user and safety against faulty operation
  • adjusted machines for export into different countries (until now: Finland,  Australia, France, ...). This included changes in the user interface (language-specific changes), electrical system (different voltage levels), ...
